HIV clinical mentor – CHAM

CHAM is an ecumenical association of Church owned health facilities in Malawi, Established in 1966, CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi with member health facilities in almost all district, CHAM facilities are predominantly located in rural areas thereby promoting equity in access to health care CHAM membership also includes colleges that trains majoring of mid-level health professionals in Malawi

CHAM Secretariat is the central coordination unit of the association, It provides technical support, conducts high level representation and advocacy, and facilitates resource mobilisation and capacity building and supports development of health services in member units

HIV clinical mentor – CHAM

Grade CM 4, Dept: Health Programs, Reports to : HIV Projects Manager, Scope f work – Provide high level problem solving and clinical decision making skills, case review, quality assurance, and continuing professional education in the context of an ongoing personal relationship with clinicians and nurses working in the CHAM hospitals’ HIV clinics under CDC Project

Provide on-site clinical coaching to HIV service providers on the treatment of HIV cases according to the Malawi national treatment guidelines, including adult and paediatric ART and the treatment of tuberculosis and other opportunistic diseases, Guiding the development and review of site specific plans on HIV service Quality Improvement and Assurance, Participate in the QI/QA meetings at facility level, Participate in the quarterly MoH supervisions to both CHAM and MoH health facilities, Ensure availability of approved standard operating procedures for the provision of HIV clinical care in CHAM health facilities, Submit a monthly report on mentorship activities, as well as findings and recommendations for strengthening services in CHAM health facilities and compliance with the national treatment guidelines, Participate in CHAM-CDC quarterly review meetings and present on progress of activities from the targeted health facilities

Degree in Clinical Medicine or nursing and must be a trained HIV service mentor/Supervisor or national trainer, Those with masters Degree will have an added advantage, Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi or nurse s and Midwives Council of Malawi, At least 5 yrs experience with clinical HIV and AIDS care, including the provision of ART

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people of different backgrounds, Strong organising, planning and prioritising skills, Sensitivity to different cultural working environments, Capacity to operate both as a team player in large drivers teams as well as individually, Demonstrated exceptional coaching and mentoring ability
