Overview:The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is a nonprofit scientific and charitable organization founded in 1996 whose mission is to ensure the development of safe, effective, accessible, preventive HIV vaccines for use throughout the world. Responsibilities:
Job Title: Laboratory Manager, IAVI, India
Location: Gurgaon, India
Position SummaryThe Laboratory manager shall primarily be responsible under the guidance of the Program Director and Head of HVTR laboratory to ensure that the work progresses smoothly within the defined scope/ strategy and all of the organization’s initiatives (program, projects, etc). S/he will report directly to the Director, HVTR lab. S/he will primarily be involved in laboratory management and also will help the Director to monitor THSTI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Design Program activities across the portfolio, developing periodic reports, organizing the relevant meetings with the members of Management and Steering Committees and others. S/he should be able to highlight any problems related to the laboratory/program, risks and delays well in advance to ensure that activities are completed and timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities:• Partner with PIs, other scientific and managements staff for the laboratory of the HIV Vaccine Translational Research Laboratory and Program Director- of THSTI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Design Program, India
• Liaise with other relevant Project Managers of IAVI to assure integration of all NAC projects
• Facilitate Project team meetings; prepare relevant meeting agendas, actions and decisions
• Responsible for ensuring that all required work plans, infrastructure, budgets, and status reports are prepared and completed in a timely manner
• Interchange of research materials, and information with other collaborators in India and IAVI NAC and DDL
• Assist with grant writing in support of the projects conducted at the HVTRL
• Responsible for inventory management, procurement liaison with Scientific staff at the lab and HVTR/THSTI admin
• Assist in develop data analysis plans
• Liaise with IAVI global technical departments and regional stakeholders on programmatic issues, engaging with them for guidance, support and smooth execution of R&D programs
• Work closely with Finance and Administration department to ensure the contracts, scope of work and budgets are up to date as per the strategic programmatic framework of the India office
• Best practices in project management including scientific and operational conduct at the THSTI-IAVI laboratory in India

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• MD, PhD or MD-PhD in Biological Science preferably with 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience in infectious disease research
• Degree in Business/Project management preferred
• Three years of experience in laboratory Project Management and Program coordination will be preferred
• Ability to engage, partner, and support priority activities, as needed
• Proven success in coordinating complex, global projects and teams, including assisting in planning and effective implementation
• Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and biomedical research and development preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated, team-oriented professional
