Project Assistant Software Development

University of Warwick -WMG

Option of 4 Weeks full time or 8 weeks part time
Fxed Term Contract for 4 - 8 Weeks (with the possibility of a further 4/8 weeks employment through Q2)
Q2 Limited are a management consultancy company that primarily deal with Councils and the public sector. Over recent years they have complemented their traditional consultancy to councils with the creation and supply of a resource modelling tool. Q2 would now like to develop a new change modelling tool for sale to their existing, and new, clients.
Working on the International Institute of Product and Service Innovation Project (IIPSI) which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and in conjunction with Q2, you will design an enticing web based interface and visualisation tool, which the company plans to present to existing and new customers as a pre-sales demonstrator to gauge interest prior to a full software development project. As such it needs to be representative of the proposed final interface, but does not need to be fully functional. The demonstrator will illustrate the basic use of the tool including data entry, navigation and data output for a number of potential scenarios.
You will have good design and usability skills, a good understanding of Business-to-Business interfaces, and have a demonstrable understanding of software languages.  You will have clear understanding of the challenges involved in developing fully functional interfaces from initial designs.
Preference will be given to candidates who can present the interface in the best light, by using innovative digital tools and techniques to provide the semblance of functionality, or by develop a semi-functional ‘demonstrator’ using a suitable software environment. Ideal candidates will also be able to develop a fully functional interface, although this is not compulsory.
This new project costing tool will complement a resource modelling tool (QPredict) already sold by Q2.
Please note that you are expected to be based 50% at the company premises in Blythe Valley Park near Solihull, and 50% in the International Institute for Product and Service Innovation project (IIPSI) at The University of Warwick although locations are negotiable.
