CURE has an exceptional opportunity for a CUREkids Coordinator at our hospital in Malawi. The CUREkids Coordinator acts as a liaison and connection between the CURE hospital, CURE headquarters and our growing community of friends and supporters of CURE.
The CUREkids Coordinator’s primary responsibilities involve the collection, authoring, and uploading of media and information to support the CUREkids Program, as well as other communications meant for use on the Internet and print. The CUREkids Coordinators are essentially the eyes and ears of CURE, documenting the lives of those we get to serve.

The CUREkids Coordinator responsibilities are:
• Document the experience of children who are scheduled for surgery at the hospital
• Gather information on patients, including contact information, parent/guardian information, proposed date of surgery, diagnosis and proposed procedure
• Produce 3 publishable, appropriate digital photos of the child on the initial meeting
• Compose a complete paragraph explaining the child’s medical condition as it was evaluated in CURE’s first contact with the child, the child’s background information, family of origin, and basic information that will be used to build the story around the child and help donors to connect with the child and his/her family on a personal level
• Provide status updates on each child, which will include:
o At least one update for each day the child is being cared for in the CURE hospital
o Updates on surgery schedules/rescheduling as it relates to the child
o Status updates including photos/videos throughout the time the child is at the hospital (before, during, and after treatment)
o An after treatment picture and follow up date
Other CUREkids Coordinator responsibilities include:
• Weekly status reports to the CUREkids management team
• Monthly blog pieces and photos of the week for the Communications team
• Participation in audio calls and monthly teleconference meetings
• Provide communications support to other departments of CURE, including the Accountability Team and Major Donor Development
Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:
• A love for kids and their families
• Comfortable in a hospital setting, including the operating room and what that entails
• 1-2 years of photography/videography/photojournalism experience
• Advanced photography & video competence regarding DSLR cameras, lighting, composition, editing, etc.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Solid ability to write and communicate in short-form for a western audience
• Experience with Internet social media tools including Facebook, Skype, YouTube, Twitter, blogs and e-mail
Educational Requirements:
• Photojournalism, Photography, Communications, Marketing or related degree from an accredited post-secondary institution or related experience.
