MalariaCare, a USAID-funded partnership established in 2012, aims to achieve universal diagnosis and appropriate case management for malaria by strengthening the capacity of malaria-affected countries at all levels of the health system to provide high-quality diagnostic and treatment services for malaria and other febrile illnesses. MalariaCare is seeking a program associate to provide programmatic support to our global malaria case management activities. Incumbent should be able to travel to project countries to perform program assessments and backstopping duties up to 20% of time.
PATH seeks to recruit a Regional Coordinator to join the MalariaCare partnership in Mozambique. Based in Quelimane-Zambezia, the Regional Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of MalariaCare activities in the province. This position will report to the project manager for MalariaCare in Maputo.
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent MalariaCare in interactions with provincial health management teams (PHMT) and district health management teams (DHMT), the malaria focal point, and other stakeholders within selected regions.
- Liaise with MalariaCare’s project manager in Maputo, to coordinate operations and activities at the regional, district, and facility levels.
- Participate in the preparation of annual country work plans and regional and district plans.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the PHMTs and DHMTs in the implementation of their respective Outreach Training and Supportive Supervision (OTSS) plans.
- Participate in periodic field (diagnostic, clinical care, and M&E) activities in the provinces and districts.
- Monitor implementation of provincial and district plans and contribute to periodic progress reporting.
- Establish linkages with all relevant stakeholders and other implementing partners and collaborate as necessary to facilitate effective and efficient implementation of MalariaCare activities.
- Provide bi-weekly technical and financial reports to the Maputo-based office as necessary.
- Prepare and make presentations and represent MalariaCare at meetings, workshops, and conferences and contribute to the dissemination of results and other relevant information.
- Clinical experience and knowledge in malaria diagnosis and treatment.
- Ability to deliver training in malaria diagnosis and treatment and case management for other common febrile illnesses.
- Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Written and spoken fluency in at least one local language in the operational region.
- Written and spoken fluency in English.
- Willingness to work in hard-to-reach areas with frequent travel as necessary.
- Experience with basic database management and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must have an MD or RN, or an MPH, MSC, in a health related program with clinical experience with at least 3 years of experience working in public health,previous experience working in the field of malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control is desirable,familiarity and experience working with nongovernmental organizations and civil society in Mozambique.
This position requires legal authorization to work in Mozambique.
