Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Program (MCHN) works to apply effective, innovative approaches to broadening access to and use of key maternal and child health and nutrition interventions that address the most pressing causes of maternal and child deaths, poor health, and poor nutritional status. PATH is committed to improving child health and development, focusing on interventions during pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period and for children, especially in the first 2 years of life.
PATH seeks to recruit a driver who will ensure appropriate and secure transportation of staff, visitors and partners while on duty, program and project material, goods and correspondence to and from the PATH office, always in strict compliance with the policy on safe driving and according to the Road Code.Reporting to the SADM the driver will ensure that the project vehicle is in proper running condition at all times – this include but not limited to checking of tire pressure, checking fluid levels, break lights.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Driving PATH’s vehicle safely for duty activities when required.
- Drive at a speed that is adjusted to the speed limitations imposed by the Road Code, with the weather and road conditions, and drive taking into account the safety of passengers, other road users, load and technical status of the vehicle.
- Take all safety measures, observing all traffic rules in transporting PATH staff and goods.
- Report immediately to SADM any security incident that might appear during mission travel.
- Follow at all times the safety rules of PATH. Special attention should be given to the regulation in case of accident.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always parked in secure places and that it is parked at the PATH premises within the regulated period.
- In coordination with the SADM, ensure that the car is maintained at standard level.
- Carry out daily routine inspection of the vehicle before starting work.
- Monitor the needs for maintenance of the car according to the mileage and inform the SADM with a minimum of 500 km in advance.
- Always keep the car clean and presentable inside and outside.
- Track and report all fuel expenditures. Report the need for fuel to SADM or when the level drops ½ of the tank capacity.
- Keep a daily record of consistent log book (mileage, fuel stocked, destinations, etc.).
- Prepare consumption monthly following existing forms.
- In coordination with the SADM ensure that licenses and manifests, insurance are up to date;
- Ensure the smooth loading and unloading of the car considering the maximum capacity, proper distribution and cargo security.
- Ensure waybill are properly completed and signed whenever transporting goods and ensuring that copies of the waybill are signed by the receiver after all assets have been properly delivered to the same. Waybills must be signed and later delivered to the SADM.
- Ensure that the vehicle has always the essential documentation essential required (insurance, arnet, driving license) and PATH forms (incident forms, contact numbers of PATH, firefighters, police, etc.)
- Logistic and admin support in the office and field.
- Basic knowledge of auto mechanics.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Able to work under pressure and availability to work outside normal business hours if required..
- Knowledge of Portuguese (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of the English language (desirable).
- Be a self-motivated and humble individual in relationship with communities, colleagues and others who come into contact with the PATH.
Minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent experience preferably with training in mechanical,possess professional driving license with a minimum of 5 years of service,minimum 5 years of proven experience as a professional driver, experience working as a certified driver for an NGO or UN agency (is an advantage).
You must currently have legal authorization to work in Mozambique.
