Main Purpose of Position
The position’s main responsibility is to proactively lead and manage the supply chain of technology products through the strategic oversight and implementation of a supply chain strategy which would include the establishment of an appropriate warehousing a distribution network and the creation of sustainable competitive advantage over the entire supply chain through a thorough understanding of the import/export environment in Africa, and to achieve the profit objectives of the business unit.
Role Responsibility:
- Develop and deliver technology product strategy for Africa Region
- Lead product strategy with annual product strategy roadmap, in support of the Africa Business Plan
- Source and deliver "Best of Breed" products into Africa
- Provide the best possible pre and after sales support for approved products, to obtain consistent sustainability through-life
- Standardize products across Africa to optimize bulk-procurement discounts and rebate opportunities
- Develop strategy for warehousing and distribution centre and network.
Provide expertise support to Business Development
- Advise on the technology offerings to large bids
- Provide product support, advice and costing for large bids
- Assist with Technical designs in quotes and tenders
- Attend client visits where product knowledge is key to winning new business
Supplier and Supply Chain management as a profit center
- Implement centralized equipment ordering control to ensure procurement is only from Approved Suppliers
- Maintain preferred Approved Supplier list list with company required margins, for the Products selected
- Identify key suppliers – and lead pricing negotiations for the best deals possible through discounting and rebating
- Ensure that the Approved Suppliers provide the best possible stock and lead times to support G4S across the region
- Optimise the supply chain in order to affect the best cost saving advantages for VAT, Taxation and duties payable.
- Create and maintain an appropriate warehousing and distribution capability and infrastructure to extract maximum benefit from the supply chain
- Prepare and deliver budgets and forecast on business unit performance
Staff management and development
- All team members have clearly defined job profile s aligned to the profile of the manager
- Ensure performance contracts are in place and regular goal reviews completed to assess achievement of results
- Apply poor performance management or employee relations management principles and processes should this be required
- Provide support, coaching (train) and mentoring continuously to ensure that objectives are met
- Ensure completed development plans for each employee
- Allocation resources appropriately to ensure operational demands are met
- Ensure that events/activities taking place in team are effectively communicated within the team and to other teams requiring the information
- Ensure adequate succession planning to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- At least 5 years experience in a similar role at a senior management level
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in import/export environment in Africa
- Knowledge and experience in warehousing and distribution
- Knowledge of security technology products and services
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at a strategic level
