Analyst/Engineer - IT

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Women’s World Banking (WWB) is an international network of MFIs in several countries working to bring financial services and information to low-income entrepreneurs. Its mission is to expand the economic assets, participation, and power of poor women as entrepreneurs and economic agents by opening their access to finance, knowledge and markets. It seeks to alleviate global poverty by expanding the economic assets, participation, and power of the poor, especially women.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
WWB is seeking an Analyst/Engineer - IT. S/he will be responsible for evaluation of the software system and its architecture.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the functionality of the software in terms of current and future business requirements (scalability) to handle significant growth in clients analysis of technology specifications such as interaction with other data systems and applications (linkage to other systems such as accounting, HR, and external applications via smartphones, tablets);
  • Evaluate the architecture in terms of performance, ability to be modified, security and reliability, identify architectural risks and inconsistencies;
  • Assess physical and technical security risks to data, backup and contingency measures including the infrastructure where the systems are housed;
  • Assess controls to protect data integrity and quality;
  • Assess existing documentation of the software and provide guidance and oversight on system documentation;
  • Assess the capacity and skill set of IT staff to maintain, adjust and develop further the software, including incorporation of microinsurance product with specific functionality to capture insurance enrollments and claims;
  • Evaluate IT project management skills of internal staff;
  • Propose solution to mitigate identified risks and propose recommendations to the executive management on how to progress with the system  including the  process of certification;
  • Elaborate and submit a detailed report covering all areas of review, clear recommendations, and identification of high risk areas including the development of an action plan.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Engineering, Software Engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in evaluation and implementation of software applications/systems used in the microfinance industry or banking sector;
  • Experience in designing and managing information systems, associated business processes, and hardware;
  • Experience with custom built financial/microfinance systems;
  • Country experience in emerging markets;
  • Ability to work well in teams and meet deadlines in- and out- of-field;
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal, presentation);
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Arabic (written, spoken and technical IT terminology) is a plus;
  • Knowledge of the Visual Basic, PL/SQL, SQL Microsoft applications, and Windows environment required.
