Legal Officer – Opportunity Bank Malawi


Assist in drafting appropriate legal documentation, Conducting searches on loan securities, Obtaining consent for security perfection, Attending to mediation, Assist in perfection of various loan securities, Assist in maintenance of various loan securities, Assisting in maintenance of the bank’s loan security profile

Ensuring that processes associated with perfection of loan securities are done timely, Ensuring that random checks on loan securities pledged by clients are done periodically, Ensuring that service of court processes is done timely, Ensuring that loan securities for non-performing loans are intact, In conjunction with the archivist ensuring that all bank records are properly recorded and filled

Bachelors degree in Law from a recognised institution with 1 yr related experience, Knowledge of banking operations preferred, Ability to display high level of confidentiality and maturity, Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong knowledge of basic property law and law in general, Intermediate skills in personal computer operation, word processing and spread sheet software, Good logic, reasoning and analytical skills, Familiarity with loan documentation, Motivated self-starter, dynamic and fast learner, Ability to work in a fast paced environment and able to complete assignments timely

Insurance Officer – Opportunity Bank Malawi

Underwrites insurance policies to ensure coverage for various risks that the Bank might be exposed to either by itself to including own and client, Supporting the lending business in managing PAR through timely claims processing and to achieve growth targets for insurance business

Underwrites insurance policies for new and existing risks to loan and savings clients and other potential clients, Processes insurance claims promptly, Insurance clients acquisition, Ensures that insurance premiums are collected in full before loan disbursement, Ensuring right insurance processes are according to client’s business risks, Arranges for renewal, transfer or cancellation of insurance coverage, Develops and maintains an accurate register of insurance policies and Premiums, Acts as a liaison officer between the bank and insurance companies’ or brokers’ regional offices, Advises clients promptly on established policies and premiums

Recognised Insurance Certificate from institute of Insurance preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance or 1 yr related experience and/or training in insurance underwriting and claims, or equivalent combination of education and experience, Knowledge of lending and banking operations preferred

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, Ability to write simple correspondence, Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organisation
