Reporting to : Quality Monitoring Services Manager

Coordinates activities and conducts inspection, sampling and analysis of conformance assessment results under Import quality monitoring Scheme resulting in issuance of Import Conformance Certificates to complying products and reports to non-complying products, Manages records, conducts industrial quality audits, prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports, work plans and budgets and performs any other duties assigned from time to time

Receiving and distributing laboratory results for processing, Carrying out inspections and sampling from import and expert consignments, Drafting and checking import reports and certificates to meet set standards, Monitoring progress of dispatch of processed results, Ensuring urgent processing of rejection reports and proper enforcement of rejection orders, Processing annual Import Certificates for clients, Preparing and updating list of Annual Import Certificates, Managing records for the work centre including updating of electronic databases, Compiling weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports, Providing liaison services other MBS depts., importers, consumers and other stakeholders

Applicants should be holders of a Bachelors Degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering with a minimum of 2 yrs of industrial experience in quality related activities, Laboratory experience would be advantageous

Drafting Malawi Standards in the food and agriculture field, Providing technical secretarial services to standards development technical committees, Consulting other organizations within and outside Malawi in order to ensure that standardisation activities are carried out professionally in line with international recognized practices, Conducting industrial quality audits, Performing any other duties as may be assigned

A university degree in Food Science, Food Technology or Agriculture, Minimum of 2 yrs working experience, Good communication skills (both written and oral), Excellent computer knowledge, Should be able to writ and present scientific papers

Laboratory Technician (Food Chemistry)

Reporting to: Scientific Officer (Food Chemistry)

Job purpose: To provide technical support services

Preparation of standardization an laboratory reagent and standards solutions, Analysis of assorted samples by classical methods such as Titrimetry, Gravimetry, and Colorimetry as well as instrumental methods such as Flame, spectroscopy, Thin Layer Chromatography, Atomic Absorption Spectrophometer, UV/visible Spectrophometre, Fibretech system and Camag TLC Scanner II, Undertaking calibration checks for instruments and arranging for their calibration as well as preventative or corrective maintenance as appropriate, Implementation of ISO17025 quality management system and industrial auditing activities, Supervision of laboratory personnel under section of responsibility and ensuring that good laboratory practices (GLP) including safety measures are in place and practice, Organising disposal of used media and obsolete samples from the laboratory, Assisting with the compiling of budgets, workplans and quarterly progress reports, Participating in IRTACU and ISO17025 laboratory quality management system activities, Any other duties as may be assigned by Scientific Officer (Food Chemistry) or higher authorities from time to time

Should have a Diploma in Laboratory Technology and at least a minimum of 2 yrs experience in a busy laboratory environment.

Degree in Optometrie, Not less than 4 yrs work experience at a busy Ophthalmic Optician, Capable to run a Workshop independently, Knowledge of the newest technologies in single vision, bifocal and multifocal lenses, At least 4 yrs experience in hard/soft contact lens fitting and eye testing, Must be flexible to work in all branches of A C Opticals
