DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates will be undertaking the following duties:
  • Maintaining a filing system which will allow easy retrieval of information;
  • Maintaining incoming and outgoing mail to ensure that it is directed to the appropriate offices;
  • Making travel arrangements and all other arrangements for meetings;
  • Taking minutes of meetings;
  • Answering telephone calls and keeping records of outgoing telephone calls, mail and postage;
  • Maintaining a diary for the section in order to facilitate adherence to work schedules and meeting deadlines;
  • Custody and disbursement of office supplies and stationery and requests for replenishment;
  • Ensuring that office premises are secure and tidy.

Field Coordinator (Temporary)

It’s hard to believe that today over 663 million people still do not have clean, safe water and over 2.4 billion live without a toilet. The resulting diseases kill one child every minute. WaterAid’s Vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation. By 2030 we want everyone everywhere to have clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
WaterAid is looking for an experienced Field Coordinator to manage and coordinate a 5 Months Research Project for WaterAid (this is an Engineers position). The role will play a vital role in WaterAid’s UPGRO Research Project activities supporting the Country Office in its mission to transform lives with safe water, sanitation and hygiene in the world’s poorest communities.
Reporting to the Head of Programme Quality Control and Assurance, the Field Coordinator will support the delivery of the research through direct oversight and coordination of field operations for Surveys of the Research component, including mobilization, building and relationship management with District authority, Well physical observations, dismantlement and installation of boreholes, pump testing, water quality analysis and reporting.
Specifically, the Field Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Community mobilization for field investigations in liaison with the District Water Officers (DWO’s) and ensure communities expectations are well managed
  • Providing technical oversight and guidance to the field team including pump testing processes
  • Support researchers to conduct chemical, physical, and biological water quality sampling and analysis (as required)
  • Field team supervision and demonstrating appropriate leadership values
  • Logistical and financial management for all field operations including developing a maintenance plan for all equipment and ensure regular servicing
  • Manage all field activities, document and produce reports.
To be successful, you’ll need:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental / Water / Irrigation Engineering obtained from a reputable institution of higher learning.
  • Proven experience in managing field operations and working with communities and district local government Officials
  • Hands-on experience in conducting pump testing, Water Quality Analysis, Pump Installation and dismantling (including fishing of dropped materials in the well)
  • Knowledgeable in Construction Health & Safety rules
  • Sound knowledge of rural Water sub-sector issues is desirable with proven ability to analyze (qualitative and quantitative) data.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and willing to spend a minimum of 90% of his/her time in remote areas in the field including over the weekends.
  • Excellent Computer and numeracy skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diligent and thorough working style with commitment to producing high quality and accurate outputs.
  • Flexibility to do extra assignments.

The Nkhoma University (NKHUNI) is a private University which has within a relatively short period of time become one of the important new players in tertiary education in Malawi It has already achieved a prominent ranking position within the Malawian context, having been duly accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE): It also aims to be internationally accepted and locally relevant. 2. The Context and Description
The Nkhoma University was established by the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Nkhoma Synod, It started in 2013 with an enrolment of 53 students. In the year 2016; the student population had grown to 850 students. NKHUNI has three accredited Faculties of Education, Commerce and Theology. As a possible fourth academic faculty, the Nkhoma Nursing College is, parallel to its existing Diploma and Certificate programmes, considering and preparing an accreditation application for a university degree to be offered to qualifying students. CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer will directly report to the Vice Chancellor and the University’s Audit Committee of the University Council, the Chief Financial Officer will provide vision, leadership, and overall strategic direction of the University’ s business and financial operations, including capital budget planning, accounting, reporting, auditing, forecasting and investment management. As a member of the Executive Committee, the CFO will also participate in the general administration and development of policies and procedures of the University. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit Manages subordinate supervisors and directly supervises other non-supervisory employees.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC)
The position of a Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) calls for an exceptional individual, a visionary and experienced leader with relatively high academic standing, great integrity with high moral values, and has a global perspective on and commitment to continue developing the university with high standards and perfection The successful candidate for the position of DVC will have to enter into a three year contract with the University but ‘renewable with mutual agreement The package of remuneration will be attractive and also enhanced by performance.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Deputy Vice Chancellor
The duties of the DVC will include but not limited to
  • Managing as the Deputy Chief Executive responsible for administrative, academic and especially financial management of the University;
  • Reporting and being answerable to the Vice Chancellor;
  • Presiding over; by virtue of the office all committees of Council and Senate; and a. Wherever necessary, delegating functions, duties, and responsibilities to a member of top management as he may see fit.
