Role overview
The Basic Emergency Obstetric Care Trainer is a short term placement. The purpose of this placement will be to prepare for and conduct training of nurses and midwives, from ten selected districts of Malawi, in Basic Emergency Obstetric Care. The Volunteer will conduct the trainings alongside local Malawian trainers who will in the process learn from each other on BEmOC. The training of serving nurses and midwives in rural health facilities in Basic Emergency Obstetric Care is aimed to improve the quality maternal health care provision and reduce maternal death in Malawi. It is planned that there will be two sessions for the trainings each running for a period of three weeks. |
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Essential • Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery • Excellent facilitation skills • Excellent spoken and written English • Computer literacy • Ability to conduct training workshops • Excellent interpersonal communication skills • Experience in on job training to junior staff • UK resident Desirable • Previous experience working in a developing country • Post professional experience at midwife training institution as tutor or clinical instructor |
