The purpose of the job is to support and ensure promotion of child rights and child participation for the achievement of the results in the current country programme
Constructive dialogue and partnerships are established between international and local social protection stakeholders, to provide an effective protective environment for the most vulnerable children, including progressive compliance of principal policy documents and legislation regarding all aspects of child rights
Data-driven analysis is conducted for sound and up-to-date assessment of the situation of children and women in Malawi to provide the baselines for result-based decisions on necessary interventions and evaluations, An effective information system for monitoring child rights indicators is developed
Advocacy efforts are effectively made to raise awareness on children’s rights and equity with the general public and policy makers, and local buy-in is ensured for continued relevance of UNICEF programming
Effective partnerships with the Govt and other agencies established to enable sustained and proactive commitment to the Convention of the Rights of the Child, the Millennium/Sustainable Development Goals, Ensuring other critical partners are identified and effective collaboration within the UN family is promoted
University Degree preferably Advanced University degree or equivalent background, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Law, or other relevant disciplines
2 yrs of relevant professional work experience, Understanding of Rights-based and Results-based approach and programming, Previous experience in promotion of human rights/child rights an asset, Background/familiarity with emergency, Excellent analytical, research and report writing skills
Fluency in English, Knowledge of Chichewa is an asset
Formulating Strategies and concepts, Analysing, Applying technical Expertise, Planning and Organising, Learning and researching
Duration – Temporary Appointment with an initial period of 6 months
