In House Legal Advisor

In House Legal Advisor
Reporting To: Finance Manager
Location: Lilongwe
Description of Responsibilities:
  • Advise the company at all levels of personnel, including senior management, and across all departments such as procurement, finance, construction, operations, mining, human resources, equipment, insurance, and health & safety, on a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious legal and commercial issues including but not limited to pre-contractual and contractual documentation, equipment and vehicle hire, construction matters, finance matters, insurance matters, land acquisition and use, property matters, personal injury disputes, debt claims, and employment matters.
  • Manage litigation as well as out of court settlements relating to the above in conjunction with a panel of external local law firms, but with a view to minimizing all legal costs billed to the company by external legal counsel in doing so.
Mandatory Requirements

  • Law University Degree and at least 5 years of experience;
  • The candidate must be familiar with common law jurisdictions, especially England & Wales;
  • Fluency in English is essential (both written and spoken);
  • Experience with Multinational companies is a plus;
  • Driving license.

Environment, Social and Gender Technician

Department/Area/Site: Communities
Function:  Environment, Social and Gender Technician
Reporting To: Project Manager
Location: Zalewa Area
Description of Responsibilities:

Main responsibility is to oversee the implementation of the Environment Management Plans, Social and Gender Integration Plans for the project.
Specific functions include:
  • Monitor waste management activities around the designated work Sites;
  • Carry out Environmental inspections of all activities of the project;
  • Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors and other specialists to address environmental issues;
  • Implement HIV and AIDS prevention measures;
  • Implement Trafficking in Person prevention measures;
  • Implement Measures that promote workers’ rights and responsibilities at project site;
  • Implement Measures against child labour, sexual harassment and gender based violence at project site.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Health or Environmental Management or any other related course;
  • Three years’ experience in environment management, social and gender integration work;
  • Driving license.

  • Good communication skills;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools;
