However, the percentage of Computer Science degrees earned by women is still far from 50% throughout the world.

Reporting to the Basic Education Program Manager, the numeracy boos specialist will be responsible for technical leadership of Save the Children’s work to improve learning outcomes for children in lower primary school,  with a specific focus on numeracy, S/he will be involved in developing annual plans and budgets and coordinating implementation, monitoring and reporting of the same and ensures that best practices are documented, disseminated and used to inform policies and practice at community, district and national level, S/he will also be expected to work collegially with other team members to ensure effective synergies among the different Sponsorship Basic Education program activities implemented by Save the Children in T/A Chikowi, Zomba

ACF is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for ACF in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The ACF-E mission in Malawi is currently looking for a FSL expert to design and develop a FSL intervention strategy in collaboration with the Country Director and management team.
Under the supervision of the Country Director, the FSL assessement expert will:
  • validate and update the findings from the first rapid evaluation
  • design a short and medium term strategy of intervention in FSL
  • coordinate ACF-E response within the FSL cluster and with other actors
  • develop quality proposals and interact with relevant stakeholders/donors.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
  1. To review and update the findings of the rapid evaluation on FSL and refine the response strategy, integrating relevant updates
  2. To coordinate formulation of project proposals and interact with relevant stakeholders/donors
  3. To ensure the active involvement of ACF-E in Malawi national FSL coordination, technical platforms and develop sectoral partnerships
PROFILE
· University Degree in Agronomy, Economics, International development or any relevant degree to food security
· Advanced knowledge of FSL programming
· Previous experience in the humanitarian field as project/programs manager or similar
· Experience in project cycle management
· Preferable knowledge of ACF-E (policy paper, strategy, objectives)
· Skills in coordination, program management
· FSL experience in emergency and early recovery project implementation and management

REMUNERATIVE PACKAGE
We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:
· Immediate start date with an estimated duration of 2 months
· Base: Lilongwe with geographical mobility
· Salary: from 1.700€ to 2.200€ gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience (according to standard list of ACF- Spain).
· ACF- Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.
· Up to 20% additional remuneration depending on the position’s context and responsibilities (according the grading scale set by ACF-E)
· House and maintenance covered by the organization (including per diem): package estimated according to the destination.
· Travel costs to and from the mission.
· 25 working days of paid leave per year.

FHI360 seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Specialist for an upcoming food security and nutrition project in Malawi.

Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The WASH Specialist will be a senior member of the project team and work with regional and local NGO partners, government, community organizations, private sector and other stakeholders to accomplish sustained water and sanitation services and behavior change in sanitation and hygiene practices through relevant strategies that address both demand and supply, as well as linkages to nutrition and food security.
This position requires comprehensive understanding of and experience in the areas of agricultural development, value chain activities, private sector engagement and livelihoods with skills in capacity building and technical provision. The position will be based in Malawi and will report to the Director of Nutrition. Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project.
  • Advise on and monitor technical quality of deliverables associated with sustained water and sanitation services and adoption of key hygiene behaviors.
  • Develop tailored sanitation and hygiene strategies and marketing approaches to improve demand and supply for improved sanitation and hygiene products and services based on a regional context.
  • Ensure regional level WASH activities are performed, implemented and expanded with consistent approaches and quality, in accordance with national and global policies and best practices.
  • Advise partners on all technical aspects of WASH activities implementation, ensuring a unified and effective approach to achieving project milestones.
  • Provides technical assistance to develop and implement communication strategies and materials, through all phases from formative research, through design, media and materials production, community mobilization and evaluation.
  • Develop or review relevant guidelines, materials, trainings, job aids and tools to ensure the technical strategies are reflected accurately.
  • Identify and collate evidence base of promising practices and support dissemination workshops to improve existing practices and introduce new practices and/or ideas among partners and key stakeholders
  • Review technical documents and other deliverables to ensure alignment with overall project strategy.
  • Ensure that effective engagement is maintained with communities and with local government partners, to ensure responsive and sustainable programming.
  • Participate in relevant technical working groups and forums at the national, regional and global level.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, health communications, public health management, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in WASH programs.
  • Experience in managing WASH programming.
  • Experience implementing community water system facility development, including multiple water use services.
  • Experience implementing Community Led Total Sanitation and hygiene programming and training staff.
  • Demonstrated strong technical programming skills.
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills and experience working in collaboration with partners, donors and NGOs.
  • Preference for experience in behavior change materials development.
  • Preference for experience in sanitation marketing.
  • Preference for experience with USAID projects.
