CPAR-Malawi with funding from UNICEF Malawi will be implementing a Sanitation and Hygiene Project in support of UNICEF’s Program of Cooperation Agreement with the Government of Malawi In the Districts of Mzimba, Nkhatabay and Kasungu, and is in the process of recruiting highly qualified individuals to fill the following positions tenable 100% in the above mentioned three districts
DISTRICT SANITATION AND HYGIENE COORDINATORS (3)
Main Responsibilities
The District Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinator is responsible for running and supervising sanitation and hygiene activities at all stages of the project management cycle in the target districts. He/she is also responsible for accomplishing the project objectives and outcomes within the contextual constraints. The Coordinator ensures the overall success of the project by making sure the WASH team members and partners complete the defined activities in the Program Cooperation Agreement (PCA) while adhering to CPAR internal policies, Detailed Implementation Plans, standards and contractual obligations, and that the program is completed on time, within budget and with acceptable quality.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in WASH related studies (engineering, public health, Geology etc )
A solid understanding of the Government WASH Policies and guidelines and knowledge of the WASH sector indicators a must
Demonstrable experience in implementation of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), School led Total sanitation (SLTS) other school based sanitation and hygiene participatory approaches, sanitation Marketing and Its micro-financing.
Good communication skills, including ability to simply present complex technical information.
Strong experience in capacity building and training of staff and target groups, especially in community mobilization, hygiene promotion, CLTS and SLTS
Strong ability to manage, motivate and supervise staff to achieve desired results.
Must be self-starter with a lot of initiatives and ability
Must have high integrity and culturally sensitive.
Must be computer literate with good community mobilization skills
At least five years’ experience in a similar post or equivalent middle management position.
High negotiations and communication skills and be able to perform with minimum supervision.
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
Clean and valid driving license with experience in driving 4×4 vehicles and motorbikes will be an added advantage
SANITATION AND HYGIENE FIELD OFFICERS (3)
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the District Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinators, in the 3 districts of Mzimba, Kasungu and Nkhatabay, the incumbents will be responsible for implementation of sanitation and hygiene activities In the district. They will be responsible for provision of assistance In project planning, implementation. monitoring and evaluation of all sanitation and hygiene activities in the district, working closely with Extension workers and other local duty bearers as required in the project design and strategy documents in accordance with Detailed Implementation Plan and CPAR Malawi policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or diploma in Environmental Health/ Public Health/ Social Science/Community Development or its equivalent.
Demonstrable experience In implementation of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), School led Total sanitation (SLTS) other school based sanitation and hygiene participatory approaches, sanitation Marketing and its micro-financing is a requirement.
Good knowledge of the project cycle management and demonstrable experience of application of community based participatory approaches is desirable
Must be a good team player and cultural sensitive.
Ability to integrate/mainstream cross-cutting themes like gender, environment, & capacity building in all sanitation and hygiene activities.
