The Department Clinical Infection, Microbiology and Immunology, within the Institute of Infection and Global Health, invites applications for a position as a Clinical Research Fellow or a Clinical Research Nurse depending on qualifications and experience. You will be based in the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme in Blantyre, Malawi until 30 September 2015 initially.
For both posts you must be registered within the UK and be eligible for registration as a physician or nurse with the Malawi Medical Council.
The Clinical Research Fellow will provide a clinical focal point for on-going respiratory pathogen surveillance and research activities (primarily focused on influenza and pneumococcal disease). The post will incorporate routine medical care activities in adult or paediatric medicine in the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) and some teaching activities in support of host Medical department targets.
You should have an appropriate medical degree and have completed core medical training and be in possession of the MRCP/CH or equivalent. The possession of a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene will be advantageous. An interest in respiratory disease/infectious disease would be useful. You should be wishing to pursue an academic clinical career in infectious diseases or respiratory medicine in either adult or paediatric medicine.
The Clinical Research Nurse will provide a clinical focal point for on-going respiratory pathogen surveillance and research activities (primarily focused on influenza and pneumococcal disease).
You should hold a professional nursing qualification with relevant experience in disease surveillance research study management. You should be seeking to work in the management of research studies and surveillance activities, with a desire to gain further experience in academic clinical research.
