Department Description
The Department of Political Studies, in the School of Social Sciences, enjoys an international reputation for teaching, research and public engagement. It is seeking to make a tenure-track appointment at the level of Lecturer. While the Department is particularly looking to build on strengths in quantitative research, public policy and African politics, applicants are invited to apply from all fields of political studies and related fields of social science.
Brief Description
The successful applicant will be expected to have embarked upon a career of successful research, display commitment to teaching and learning, have experience with culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and be able to contribute to the collegiality of both the Department and the School of Social Sciences.
Qualifications: PhD in Political Studies or related discipline, plus publications in internationally recognized journals and proven teaching experience. Only in exceptional cases will appointment be considered of a candidate who has submitted a thesis but not yet had a degree conferred.
Duties: Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research supervision, a willingness to help build the discipline as well as service to the School, the University, the profession and the wider South African community.
Remuneration: A competitive salary with excellent benefits will be offered, dependent on qualifications and experience.
