National Program Officer (Child Labour)
National Program Officer (Child Labour)- Ministry of Labour Headquarters – Lilongwe
Will be attached to the Child Labour (CLU) under the Labour Services Department of the Ministry of Labour, Youth, sports and Manpower Development (MoLYSMD)
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Labour Commissioner and/or the Principal Secretary from time to time, Draft or translate into local language(s) news releases, official correspondence, statements and speeches and other public information that is of special interest in the area of child labour elimination, Compile reports on child labour elimination activities at national level from reports received from district labour offices and other sources, Prepare project proposals and concept notes as part of resource mobilisation for child labour elimination activities, Prepare briefs, periodic reports and statistical data on status of child labour programmes/projects, Provide programming and administrative support to progarmems and projects in areas of responsibility, Review and analyse country specific development plans and priorities, socio economic data, reports and other relevant information, Support in the development, implementation monitoring and budgeting of MOLYMD Programmes on child labour, projects and activities
First level University Degree in Economics or Business Administration or other relevant development related field obtained from a recognised institution, Applicant should also have proven qualifications in planning, monitoring and evaluation as well as in data collection, compilation, analysis and management
At least 3 yrs of work experience of programme/project implementation in the area of child rights, gender, entrepreneurial and skills development, legal reforms, poverty reduction, microfinance, applied research or social work
Good interpersonal and communication skills, Ability to organize and meet deadlines with minimum supervision, Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with international and national colleagues working in the same field, Excellent spoken and written English and good knowledge of local language(s) especially Chichewa, Knowledge of principles, concepts and procedures of programme and budget, project administration and evaluation, Ability to interpret project information and to identify and analyse related problems, Ability to work with different computer software’s and databases, Must demonstrate maturity, responsible behavior and attention to detail
