Opportunity Bank Malawi (OBM), a registered commercial bank in Malawi, wishes to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Operations Manager, tenable at the Bank’s Head office in Lilongwe.

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for effective and efficient delivery and monitoring of the Bank’s LT infrastructure, and also for the delivery of high standard LT services and support to the business.

kEY RESULT AREAS
1. I.T INFRASTRUCTURE
  • Monitoring resource capacity, utilization, performance and availability.
  • Planning and executes preventive or corrective actions to maintain high efficiency levels.
  • Reviewing system security and ensures compliance with this.
2. IT SERVICE OPERATIONS
  • Providing I.T project management anchor
  • Ensuring that all I.T team staff understand the service levels agreed so that system issues and faults are resolved with the prescribed SLA times.
  • Monitoring and reporting I T Service Quality
  • Initiating actions to overcome problems identified in meeting the service levels.
  • Ensuring that proper change control is complied with by entire LT team.
  • Providing an escalation point of all I.T issues failing resolution in agreed time
  • Preparing and publishing periodic I T Service Management reports
  • Providing internal stakeholder engagement on 13 service improvement
  • Producing a monthly service trend analysis report for ICT management to consider
  • Ensuring that all incidents assigned to ICT team members on the Service Desk Systems are monitored for progress and that they are duly resolved.
3. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
  • Providing coaching, mentorship, guidance and feedback to the MIS and I.T service support staff.
  • Formulating succession plans, and the associated training requirements to sustain future development and growth of staff
TECHNICAL SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES
  • Excellent knowledge of T24 banking system
  • ITIL Certification (or other I.T Service Management training e.g ISO 20000)
  • Excellent knowledge of I.T Service Management best practices
  • Excellent and wide Knowledge of Infrastructure and Server operating systems 0 People Management and Supervision skills.
  • Excellent ICT Security Awareness
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement competency. ❑ Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a reputable university.
  • At least three years’ experience in managing and supporting I.T banking operations.
