Founded in 1987, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 800,000 people in 39 countries. In Malawi, AHF is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to strengthen access to quality of HlV/AlDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Sexually Transmitted infections (STl) treatment. The organization provides cutting edge treatment and medical care in some hard to reach health facilities located across three districts , Lilongwe, Dedza and Ntcheu.
Applications are requested from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant position.
Medical Assistants (7 Posts based in Lilongwe, Dedza and Ntcheu districts)
Overall Responsibilities 
Under the supervision of the Medical Director, Medical Assistants will be responsible for providing clinical care to both paediatric and adult clients in AHF Malawi clinics. They will act as clinic team lead for AHF at site level. and will build and sustain effective working relationships with government clinic staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Leads AHF at clinic level, supervises other AHF clinic staff and ensures achievement of  targets and timely preparation and dissemination of reports.
  • lmplement a continuous quality assurance and improvement program at site level
  • Collaborate with government staff in the delivery of quality services to all clients
  • Examines, diagnoses and treats HlV related diseases of infants, children and adults,
  • Determines need for patient examinations and laboratory investigations and be able to interpret findings.
  • Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment.
  • Ensures compliance with productivity standards by coordinating patient scheduling.
  • Supports the clinic in establishing effective linkages and referral of patients within and outside the facility
  • Attends some of clinic case conferences to discuss complicated cases
  • Works with government staff to ensure all supplies required for the smooth running of the clinic are available at all times
Education and Experience
  • Certificate in Clinical Medicine with a minimum of five years’ experience in HIV care and treatment.
  • Must be trained in pediatrics and adult HlV Management
  • Must have a sound knowledge in the basic medical disciplines to allow for accurate  diagnosis and appropriate management of clinical problems.
  • Knowledge of clinical protocols and procedures in the management of HlV related diseases.
  • Previous experience working in partnership with government institutions.
  • Registered with Medical Council of Malawi
Other Skills & Abilities
  • Sensitivity to issues surrounding HlV and AlDS.
    Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to provide coverage at other AHF sites upon request
  • Willingness to relocate and work in remote health centers
