The Embassy of Ireland manages all aspects of lreland’s bilateral relationship with Malawi including political, trade, and consular support as well as the delivery of the Irish Aid programme of development cooperation which amounts to €73.5 million (2016-2020).
The lrish Aid programme in Malawi aims to increase the resilience of poor households to economic, social and environmental Shocks. Working with a range of partner organisations the programme has been developed with a strong focus on vulnerability, household resilience, food and nutrition security and governance.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser will lead the development and implementation of Irish Aid‘s Monitoring and Evaluation plan in Malawi. The Advisor will work closely with colleagues responsible for managing partners as well as the Embassy communication team to ensure effective documentation and dissemination ‘of results and lessons learnt.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Competencies Required
- Must have a Master’s Degree in international development. social sciences, statistics or other relevant discipline.
- Must have five years professional experience with at least 2 years working as a Monitoring and Evaluation specialist in an international development organisation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the analysis, management and synthesis of varied quantitative and qualitative data.
- A comprehensive understanding and familiarity with a range of approaches and tools for the monitoring and evaluation of development programmes e.g. proficiency in working with Theories of Change, Logic Models, Log frames, Managing for Development Results and other relevant tools and approaches.
- Strong IT and Knowledge Management skills, particularly database-related.
- Experience in the planning and/or conducting evaluations of projects.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
- Good team working, multi-cultural, communication and other personal effectiveness skills (such as networking and negotiating).
