Head of Alternative Investments to lead the execution of Old Mutual Investment Group alternative investment strategy.
This is a middle management position within Old Mutual Malawi group and is ideal for individuals who want to develop very strong skills in investment management especially alternative investments.
Job Summary
This role is responsible for formulating, revising and implementing investment strategies for a defined market area. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results though staff supervised over periods of 3 months to a year. The key focus of this job is leading the search for and execution of a full range of alternative investments available in Malawi.
The individual will be reporting to the Managing Director and will be responsible for the search of structuring, due diligence, appraisal and monitoring of alternative investments for Old Mutual Investment Group.
Duties & Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for the positions shall include, but not limited to
- Formulate, revise and implement alternative investment plans;
- Develop investment strategies based on sound philosophy and client objectives
- Identify opportunities in alternative investments and leads transactions in order to close deals
- Develop investment case for alternative investments and generate interest from potential investors;
- Perform investment research, monitors developments in alternative investment market;
- Report back alternative investment performance to clients.
Required Education & Experience
- A very strong understanding of investment markets and valuations,
- Proven experience in making investment decisions based on sound basis;
- A minimum of first degree. Those studying the CFA program and have passed Level 2 exams will have a distinct advantage.
Required Skills & Personal Attributes
- A very analytical mind
- A very good knowledge of modeling;
- Ability to correctly interpret complex investment data and summarize key issues.
- Sound independent judgment, high attention to detail; and excellent communication skills,
- Aged between 25 and 40 years.
