The Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM) is a relief and developmental arm of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi which works to create awareness and empower disadvantaged men, women and the youth at ll levels to undertake sustainable and integrated development that is gender and environmentally-sensitive and which promotes justice, and human dignity with the active participation of the people themselves to attain their destiny. Thus CADECOM is contributing to the efforts of the Malawi Government to achieve integral human development by implementing development projects throughout Malawi, in line with the Catholic Social Teaching. In Partnership with its partners Catholic Relief Services, Plan Malawi and Caritas Australia CADECOM Blantyre would like to fill the vacant position that have arisen within the Commission.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates for immediate filling of vacancies in the Archdiocese of Blantyre as follows:
I-WASH Field Officers
Specific duties and responsibilities with
- In collaboration with relevant school authorities and in liaison District Education Manager’s office, plan and execute water supply activities in designation schools build
- With the support of the District Coordination Team the of Management Committees to effectively and sustain WASH facilities and services provided under the project.
- In collaboration with designated Primary Education Advisors facilitate and coordinate School-led Total Sanitation (STs) in impact schools and ensure that construction of school water and sanitation facilities are according to Government of Malawi proved and agreed specifications with contractors.
- Coordinate with WASH and Education stakeholders at all leve District, Zones
- Coordinate sums and support activities of School Sanitation Clubs in the designated areas
- Facilitate and coordinate Community-led Total Sanitation activities in targeted communities D Facilitate community trainings related to water and sanitation.
- In collaboration with local stakeholders, identify Sanitation Entrepreneurs and facilitate their training in Sanitation Marketing.
- Coordinate Baby WASH activities in Community-Based Childcare Centers (CBCCs) in the target districts and ensure that the is according to set guidelines and standards.
- Compile project progress reports with relevant case studies for sharing with Project Management Team, government partners and other stakeholders and sector players.
Qualifications and experience
- At least 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree n any of the Community Development, Public Health, Environmental Science and Technology; Environmental Health and related qualification from a recognized institution.
- Those with Diploma and advanced undergraduate certificates in relevant fields and with more than 5 years’ experience in implementing similar projects will be considered
- Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills
- Computer literate and ability to work within tight deadlines.
