An opportunity has arisen to engage highly motivated and experienced person of Malawi origin to fill the position of Executive Director of the Cotton Council of Malawi
The Cotton Council of Malawi was established by an Act of Parliament of 2013 an this was followed by the appointment of the 7 Board Directors
The Cotton Council is mandated to regulate the development of the Cotton Industry in Malawi so that it contributes effectively to the economic development of the country
The Executive Director (Ed) shall report to the Board of Directors of the Cotton Council of Malawi, S/he will form an integral member of the council Secretariat, and shall provide the overall managerial and administrative leadership of the Cotton Council of Malawi, S/he shall be directly responsible for the development of the council management strategy and its operational operationalisation
Strategy, Vision and Leadership - Develop and implement strategic plans of the Cotton Council, Manage the Cotton Development Funds, Represent the Council in cotton stakeholder meetings, Liaise with cotton stakeholders on matters related to the cotton development in Malawi,
Team Development /Leadership - Provide leadership, guidance and control to members of staff, in conjunction with Board of Directors, advise Govt on Cotton policies, Foster linkages with other institutions on issues related to the development of the cotton industry, Implement and enforce the cotton act,
Operations - Prepare ad submit reports as required, Provide secretarial work to the Board of Directors, Develop annual workplans and budgets for presentation to the Cotton Council, Any other duties assigned by the Council
Should have a minimum of Master of Science Degree in Agricultural related fields, with more than 5 yrs work experience in a senior management position in a reputable organisation
Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker, Have excellent management and interpersonal skills including teambuilding, Be self reliant, good problem solver and results oriented, Have strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise, have excellent judgement and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills, Have prone track record of success facilitating progressive organisational change and development within a growing organisation
Successful candidates shall be offered a negotiable performance related contract for a period of 3 yrs with an attractive salary and benefits commensurate with seniority of the position and qualifications of the candidate
