Head of Wholesale Banking
Applications are therefore sought from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the above position.
JOB PURPOSE
To lead, direct and enable a team of Business Managers in order to grow the Nedbank Malawi Wholesale business in the Corporate and Business Banking segments by among others, driving growth in assets, liabilities, NIR and NII of the Wholesale Banking business. Create strategic partnerships to increase the client base and revenue growth by using a client centric approach to retain existing and attract new clients.
JOB PROFILE
This is an executive management position reporting to the Managing Director. The successful candidate must have experience in financial services at executive level and that of running a big business with proven success in developing and implementing strategy and aligning it to the Bank and individual capabilities in order to drive execution and success.
Key Result Areas
  • Develop a feasible strategy for growing Corporate and Business Banking business
  • Provide strategic direction and lead the Wholesale Banking team in order to deal with market/client dynamics and coming up with relevant capabilities/solutions through innovative product development/service orientation
  • Manage, network and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders with a view to ensure synergistic relationships that drive the business growth agenda of the Bank
  • Acquire new strategic & primary banked clients as well as retain existing clients, generate revenue and grow market share in line with agreed targets
  • Align individual targets with the Wholesale Banking strategy and the Bank’s overall strategy
  • Maximize NII and NIR
  • Drive internal processes and manage credit and other risks effectively ensuring compliance to statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate effective marketing of Nedbank relevant products and services, cross selling and upselling and facilitate appropriate projection of the brand
  • Track/analyze performance against targets and implement corrective actions timely
KEY COMPETENCIES
Leadership, effective decision making, financial acumen, relationship management, credit risk management, key stakeholder management, business savvy, driving execution, negotiation skills, problem solving, judgment etc
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A business related Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable institution with at least 8 years’ experience in a business development environment at senior management level. A relevant post graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
