JOB PURPOSE
To teach, mentor and help learners to achieve their highest potential in and outside class and develop into useful, confident and responsible citizens.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate shall be responsible to the Headteacher and will carry out the following:
1. PLANNING
- Preparing Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans;
- Identifying and acquiring relevant learning and teaching materials; and
- Preparing learning/teaching materials and lesson notes.
2. TEACHING
- Devising appropriate methods of teaching and assessing learners;
- Ensuring that relevant teaching and learning materials are available and improvise
where necessary; - Ensuring that subject matter is delivered within allocated time;
- Ensuring that the classroom / laboratory environment is conducive to learning; and
- Ensuring that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to.
3. CLASS MANAGEMENT
- Maintaining records e.g. learners’ progress, attendance registers and scholastic
information; - Maintaining learners’ discipline;
- Identifying and responding to learners’ needs;
- Providing counselling and guidance to learners; and
- Assessing learners regularly.
4. ADMINISTRATION
- Attending departmental, sectional and staff meetings as well as general assemblies;
- Preparing relevant learning/teaching materials and equipment;
- Preparing budget requirements for the class; and
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Headteacher.
