Compliance Review Officer


Compliance Review Officer – Standard Bank Limited – Head Office Lilongwe
Reporting to the Head, Compliance, the successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that the bank implements all aspects of compliance (risk) frameworks, policies and processes

Bachelor of Laws Degree, High level knowledge of the legal framework in which the Bank is operating, Sound knowledge of banking business and its operations, 3 yrs relevant working experience in a busy bank/financial services environment, Understanding of international best practices in the areas of bank regulation and law of banking, Strong conceptual abilities to think conceptually, broadly and across all aspects of work, Flexibility and adaptability to manage changing dynamics in the bank environment, Interpersonal and communication skills to work with and through diverse working groups, Problem solving skills to manage compliance risks, Planning and organizing skills to contribute to longer term roadmap or framework, Decision making skills within limits of authority

Provide monthly and quarterly reports on compliance activities to Management, Perform appropriate monitoring activities to provide assurance on the effectiveness of compliance risk management plans and adherence, Maintain harmonious relationships between the bank and its regulators, Interpret and communicate relevant regulatory requirements and identify potential implications thereof – develop risk management plans in consultation with Management, Create and maintain compliance culture in consultation with the bank’s executive team, Escalate breaches and incidents or any conflicts between local laws and regulations and Group minimum requirements as contained in policies and standards to Management to allow effective resolution of these conflicts, Set compliance related standards and guide Management to comply with applicable regulatory requirements through compliance training or the facilitation thereof, Assist line managers in avoiding sanctions relating to market conduct, Participate in the bank’s business processes to ensure that compliance requirements are applied, Ensure that line managers comply with applicable internal standards and policies, statutory, regulatory and supervisory requirements
