Area Field Supervisor (Forestry) within the Agronomy Department
Will report to the Forestry Controller
MSCE, Degree/Diploma in Forestry/Agriculture from a recognised University, Operational and field experience in forestry management is essential, A minimum of 4 yrs relevant experience, Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation an added advantage, Valid driver’s licence for car or for motorcycle
Ensuring there are sound systems in place to protect and safeguard company forests from theft and fires, Managing the Supply Chain of firewood, Managing harvesting, extraction and movement of firewood from plantations and/or concession areas, Any other duties as may be assigned by the Forestry Controller from time to time, Managing third party tree seedling suppliers, Managing all company nurseries as well as field work to ensure that the required survival rate is attained at the end of each season as stipulated by Alliance One Forest Policy, Undertaking Species Site matching for the assigned silvicultural zones, Managing company’s resources (Both assets and the Staff), Financial Management and controls for all Forestry activities, Managing forestry staff under the Northern operation, Information Management and timely submission of reports, Planning of all forestry activities in line with the Regional Forestry policy, Managing implementation of Alliance Once Forestry Plan for the Northern operation (Live Barn and plantations) from base in Mzuzu

Will report to the Area Field Supervisor (Forestry)
Implementing alliance Once Forestry plan live Barn, Farmer Trees Plantations, Undertaking Species Site matching for the assigned silvicultural zones, Assist small holder farmers in planting and managing live barn and woodlots, Establishing and managing tree nurseries that feed smallholder farmers and plantations, Disseminate Extension Messages to smallholder farmers, Identifying , assessing and supervising potential third party tree nurseries for contracting out, Ensuring that the required survival rate is attained at the end of each season as stipulated by Alliance One Forest Policy, Delivering curing firewood to both smallholder and AOTM farms, Supervising and monitoring smallholder forestry activities as well as ATM plantations, including land preparation, planting of trees, including land preparation, planting of trees, managing plantations and undertaking fire protection activities, Collecting and processing field data, Overseeing the harvesting, extraction and movement of firewood from plantations and/or concession areas to achieve wide understanding of sustainability of forests and trees, Compiling periodic reports as prescribed by management
