World Relief is an International Christian NGO working in health, economic development, disaster response, and refugee resettlement. World Relief’s mission is empowering local churches to serve the most vulnerable. World Relief Malawi is anticipating a grant that will support the government of Malawi through the Department of Nutrition, HIV and AIDS (DNHA) to promote nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions, aiming at reducing stunting over a period of 4 years by focusing on children aged 0-23 months and pregnant and lactating women in Lilongwe and Dowa Districts.
World Relief, through the Chiyambi Chabwino Nutrition project, will collaborate with key stakeholders that are already implementing some of the SUN interventions and coordinate with Lilongwe and Dowa District councils to saturate all the SUN Movement high impact interventions to almost every household in the targeted Traditional Authorities. World Relief, therefore invites applications from Interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions tenable in Lilongwe and Dowa Districts

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Nutrition Project Coordinator will ensure that all project related activities implemented by WRM in designated districts, contribute significantly towards the reduction of child stunting and maternal nutrition. The responsible officer will work with the District Council and the District Nutrition Coordinating Committee (DNCC) in Lilongwe and Dowa Districts to ensure coordination of nutrition activities in the districts. the incumbents will assist in the coordination of project activties and resources including personnel and ensure achievement project deliverables within agreed timeframes.
Specific Functions
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of project plans and budgets in collaboration with Project Manager, Nutrition supervisors and M&E assistant.
  • Coordination of field level human, financial and material resources of the project to ensure efficient resource allocation and utilization for all components.
  • In liason with the Project Manager and M&E Officer, facilitate monthly project technical reviews and planning meetings with nutrition supervisors and Care Groups
  • Coordinate with the M&E Officer in the review and consolidation of periodic project reports from Nutrition supervisors and ensure timely submission to the secretariate.
    • Maintain close links with the appropriate Government Departments
    and other organisations (including NGO’s) implementing nutrition
    related projects in Ntchisi district to ensure complementarity and avoid
    duplication of efforts.
    • Provide overall supportive supervision of all nutrition training events
    conducted by the project
    Provide training and guidance for Nutrition supervisors and other field
    wvel personnel to stimulate active participation of care givers of under
    five children in project activities
    Supervise and train project teams in target areas in the high impact
    nutrition interventions following the SUN 1000 Days counselling package
    • Assist In the organisation and undertaking of all aspects of visits by the
    DNHA, the donor and other relevant interested personnel
    • Ensure integration of the project activities with Agriculture related
    interventions,Savings for Life and Integral Mission initiatives in Lilongwe
    and Dowa Districts.
    • Undertake any other activities relevant to the project as requested by the
    Project Manager.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health/ Nursing
    • Minimum of three years* experience in the held of nutrition and
    community Child Care services.
    • Experience in leadership and project management
    • Good working knowledge of relevant Nutrition Protocols and Policies in
    Malawi
    • Experience in the Care Group Implementation Methodology and adult
    learning approaches in community settings
    • Ability to network and collaborate with district and community level
    stakeholders;
    • Excellent writing and communication skills
    • Readiness to work in communities in remote rural areas;
    • Necessary skills to communicate with beneficiaries in their local language
    (Chichewa).
