Procurement/Administration Officer

The position is tenable at our head office in Blantyre. Applicants must have a Degree in Procurement/Business Administration or its equivalent. Those with a Certified Professional Purchaser accreditation will have an added advantage. They should also have a minimum of five years’ experience at a similar position in a very busy and reputable organisation as the successful person will be responsible for buying the best quality equipment, goods and services, at the most competitive prices, to enable a company save money and increase profits.
Responsibilities
  • Forecasting levels of demand for services and products and their associated price trends and their impact on future activities.
  • Conducting surveys to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Negotiating and agreeing contracts and thereafter monitoring the quality of service provided.
  • Contracts management – keeping all contract files (customers/suppliers/HO) for future reference.
  • Producing reports and statistics using computer software
  • Evaluating bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
  • Analyzing current procurement activities and recommending improvement through more efficient procurement methods, quantity discounts, standardization, value analysis and cooperative purchasing.

  • Ability to promote and maintain a high level of communication and liaison with the external suppliers.
