Proposal Objective
SI is planning to bid on a performance evaluation of the Environmental and Natural Resource Management (ENRM) Project in the MCC Malawi Compact. The ongoing ENRM project’s objective is to reduce costly disruptions and ensure the sustainability and increase efficiency of Malawi’s hydropower generation. The evaluation will be looking at the ENRM Project as whole, and selected individual grants awarded and implemented under the ENRM and the Social and Gender Enhancement Fund Activity grant facility.
Position Description:
SI is seeking a Hydrologist for the MCC Evaluation Design and Implementation Services, Environmental and Natural Resource Management (ENRM) Project in Malawi. The Hydrologist will provide support in analyzing the weed and sediment monitoring data of the Shire River, including water turbidity and infestation by water hyacinth. The period of performance will be one year, with the possibility of four option years.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in physical or natural sciences, engineering or related field required.
- Minimum of five years of professional-level experience in analyzing the weed and sediment monitoring data.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of hydrology.
- Ability to operate hydrological monitoring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed geological plans and reports.
- Experience in collecting, organizing and evaluation data.
- Direct experience with MCC or other donor funded programs in Malawi or Sub-Saharan Africa highly preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Malawi.
- Fluency in written and spoken English required.
