Proposal Objective
SI is planning to bid on a performance evaluation of the Environmental and Natural Resource Management (ENRM) Project in the MCC Malawi Compact. The ongoing, ENRM project’s objective is to reduce costly disruptions and ensure the sustainability and increase efficiency of Malawi’s hydropower generation. The evaluation will be looking at the ENRM Project as whole, and selected individual grants awarded and implemented under the ENRM and the Social and Gender Enhancement Fund Activity grant facility.
Position Description:
SI is seeking a Senior Analyst/Environment and Natural Resource Management Expert (ENRM) for the MCC Evaluation and Design and Implementation Services, ENRM Project in Malawi. The Senior Analyst/ENRM Expert will be responsible for the technical and methodological leadership of the environment, natural resources and land management evaluation and will be the primary technician working on the Call Order. The period of performance will be one year, with the possibility of four option years.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s or higher in environmental resource management, forestry, environmental sciences, ecology or related field required.
  • Experience evaluating land-use change and/or modeling approaches to evaluate impact of land-use change.
  • Minimum of eight years of proven experience designing and conducting evaluations in the agricultural and environmental sector with a strong understanding of land and natural resource management.
  • Experience in soil science, soil erosion, conservation agriculture, and freshwater management.
  • Experience conducting experimental and or quasi-experimental impact evaluations with control and treatment groups.
  • Strong economic, statistics and econometrics skills, including experience with detailed, high-level data analysis and sampling.
  • Experience in Malawi or Sub-Saharan Africa required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
