help2kids is a young, dynamic organization located in Dar es Salaam and in Lifuwu, a small village on Lake Malawi in Salima district. We help the community by providing support to local primary and nursery schools. We promote sustainable development and socially responsible tourism by feeding the profits from our guest houses in back into our projects.
We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator in Malawi to help with our health, sports and education projects, as well as fundraising. In this role you would be responsible for such varied tasks as providing transport and support to clinic staff to carry out the sikelo program, manage a football program teaching life skills to students, work alongside international volunteers to teach English classes to adult learners, and gain valuable experience in grantwriting. This is a great position for someone who is passionate about children, and who is interested in gaining experience in the field. This is a full-time position, and the candidate must be willing to work a Tuesday-Saturday, 8am – 5pm work day.

Job Objective
Fundraising 20%
- Build connections and cultivate relationships with businesses and non-profits within Malawi and internationally to procure funds for projects and running costs of the organization.
- Maintain a database of past and potential donors, records of communication, and assistance given to target requests.
- Work under the management of the marketing director and marketing assistant to ensure our corporate identity and branding are upheld while meeting fundraising goals.
- Create and send grant requests under deadlines while meeting goals set together with the marketing team.
Project Monitoring, Implementation and Evaluation 40%
- Assist the field manager with carrying out donor-funded projects.
- Assist as needed in purchasing materials locally and in Salima, ensuring the budget is being followed, monitoring the project’s progress, creating completion reports for the donors, and evaluating the project.
Program Coordination 40%
- Serve as an assistant to the field manager in monitoring project sites regularly and implementing programs.
- Manage the project planning and ongoing development in extracurricular activities, such as English classes, kid’s corner, and the sports program, under supervision by the field manager.
- Serve as the driver for twice weekly outreach clinics in surrounding rural villages.
- Represent the organization at district health or education meetings as needed.
- Meet weekly with the field manager to set plans and communicate on project needs or concerns.
Qualifications
Things we are looking for in the ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- One year commitment
- Drivers' license and ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle
- Fluency in English and Chichewa (ChiYao language skills are also an asset)
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Excel
- Work well under minimal supervision and be self-motivated
- A passion for working with children and youth
- Ability to work with limited resources in a rural village
- Work well with team of local staff, foreign staff and international volunteers
- Integrity, adaptability, flexibility and willingness to chip in where needed
