Proposal Objective
SI is planning to bid on a performance evaluation of the Environmental and Natural Resource Management (ENRM) Project in the MCC Malawi Compact. The ongoing, ENRM project’s objective is to reduce costly disruptions and ensure the sustainability and increase efficiency of Malawi’s hydropower generation. The evaluation will be looking at the ENRM Project as whole, and selected individual grants awarded and implemented under the ENRM and the Social and Gender Enhancement Fund Activity grant facility.
Position Description:
SI is seeking an Agriculture Extension Specialist for the MCC Evaluation Design and Implementation Services, Environmental and Natural Resource Management (ENRM) Project in Malawi. The Agriculture Extension Specialist will provide support in identifying the type, magnitude and timing of benefits expected throughout the network and in discrete geographic areas. The period of performance will be one year, with the possibility of four option years.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s or higher agriculture, horticulture, or related field required.
  • Experience with the different extension methodologies that are commonly used on similar type programming within the agriculture and land management sectors.
  • Strong familiarity with erosion control/land management techniques, adoption and farmer behavior change and methodologies/models for monitoring change.
  • Knowledge in different research methodologies and prior experience conducting similar evaluations/studies on agriculture issues in Malawi.
  • Experience with qualitative research methods and longitudinal studies.
  • Experience in Malawi or Sub-Saharan Africa required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
