Regional IT Coordinator, TSP Program


The Regional IT Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance of entire IT infrastructure, hardware and software, including: servers, desktop and laptop computers, network switches, firewalls, internet connectivity, PaBX, cabling/network points;
• Design and implement backup systems for clinical operations that require IT systems to function (eg, backup procedures/server for the electronic medical records system);
• Troubleshoot and repair network and computer issues and enforce best practices and policies for network use; • Perform routine backups, audit of systems, antivirus and software updates and ensure adequate internet connectivity through both implementation of suitable network policy and relationship with the ISP;
• Provide helpdesk services to end users;
• Perform and provide technical and software support or advice as required;
• Configure and maintain the telephone management system/PaBX (Nortel Networks);
• Maintain records of equipment condition;
• Create a schedule of regular evaluation of IT infrastructure;
• Participate in development of policies and procedures that affect use of IT equipment; • Monitor, evaluate, and track vendor performance;
• Respond to staff service requests in a timely manner;
• Ensure preventive maintenance is carried out in a timely manner;
• Initiate interventions to solve problems with IT infrastructure;
• Prepare annual plans and report performance to Baylor-Malawi leadership;
• Continuously communicate with management and staff about the status of IT related systems;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Location TBD, either in Lilongwe, Malawi or Pretoria, South Africa; with potential travel to 10 focal countries
Applications are sought from experienced, mission-driven candidates who meet the following profile:
• Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalent qualification in an area related to information technology (eg, computer science, software engineering, database administration, networking);
• At least 5 years of experience in server administration;
• Experience with MySQL and any programming language would be a strong advantage;
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or A+ certification would be an advantage;
• Experience in working with health- related institutions would be an advantage;
• Demonstrated knowledge of server administration in a Windows client-server environment;
• Experience designing IT infrastructure, from designing specifications to setup to operations to maintenance; • Must be a self-starter and loyal team player;
• Able to work with minimum supervision, prioritize tasks, anticipate staff technical need, and meet deadlines; • Should be cost conscious in determining needs and making purchase recommendations;
• High level of integrity, accountability, trustworthiness and ethically sound behavior;
• Experience working on a regional program a plus.
