Research Supervisor - Seedbank - (2 year renewable contract)
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of Research Supervisor - Seedbank at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.
Position/Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
- Supervise the seedbank procedure on seed processing activities in compliance with the SOP.
- Coordinate and process all seed request activities and update all relevant data in the inventory
- Supervise the seedbank staff on all seed sorting, packaging and safety duplication activities.
- Liaise with the Germplasm Health unit on seed health issue.
- Coordinate the processing, conservation and data management of safety duplication from other centers.
- Coordinate and ensure daily updating of all necessary data on the genebank online inventory
- Ensure the proper functioning of all seed processing equipments and liaise with the relevant units when necessary for assistance.
- Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor
Qualification, Experience and Skills
- BSc / HND in plant science , Microbiology or any related discipline
- Minimum of 1 year relevant working experience on a similar role
- Good skills in MS Office and general knowledge of computer
The ideal candidate must:
- Be able to follow instructions and work independently where necessary.
- Be able to use laboratory equipments and understand basic laboratory techniques
- Possess good organizational skills and demonstrate ability to work under pressure.
- Be available to work outside office hours and for extended hours where necessary
