The Trade for Development Centre (TDC), a programme of the Belgian development agency BTC, fights poverty by supporting producers in their economic and sustainable social development. Supported producers are located in the partner countries of the Belgian Development Cooperation (http://www.befair.be/en/content/list-partner-countries).
The TDC accompanies producers' organisations in their efforts to sustainably improve their income through better market access. lt helps them with better understanding the markets and with identifying and taking advantage of new commercial opportunities; it provides advice and coaches producers in managing their businesses, especially in defining their commercial strategies, implementing a marketing plan and formulating a business plan.
For future tenders (public procurement) for missions planned from 2014 to 2017, and in view of constituting its EXPERTS database the TDC launches a:
CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR COACHING SERVICES TO PRODUCERS' COOPERATIVES AND SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN MARKETING MANAGEMENT.
The TDC aims to identify CONSULTANTS experienced with participatory coaching of producers' organisations in developing countries, with an independent status and SPECIALISED in strategic and operational marketing.
Consultancy will consist of the following tasks: • punctual consultancy , from several days to maximum 1 month and/or • regular on-site proximity coaching up to 4 visits per year
PROFILE
To be included in the database, the consultant must meet the following profile: • A graduate of a higher Business School and/or degree in business administration, management sciences, strategic marketing, communication or product design and/or equivalent through experience • At least 5 years of practical experience in the private sector, in businesses commercialising fast moving consumer goods (food), handicraft or tourism products • Relevant professional and/or other experience in the field • Working experience in the EU is an asset • Familiar with and motivated by fair and sustainable trade concepts • Proficient in one of the following languages: French, English or Spanish • Knowledge of another language (ex. Swahili,…) is an asset • Special attention will be paid to the following personal aspects: • Strong empathy • Easy and open communicator, able to make oneself understood by the target group , which can be the poorest in the developing countries as well as private company CEOs • Respectful of different cultures • Ability to generate and harvest the best ideas of the target group.
