Head of Programs

The Role
As Head of Programs you will provide strategic leadership in Program Management within Plan Malawi through the execution and reviews of the Country Strategy. You will be responsible for leading the program team in designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring and evaluating program interventions. You will also be accountable for overall performance of the Program Department at Country Office and Program Areas/field operations to ensure that Plan Malawi delivers quality programs in accordance with child rights principles and strategies.
You will directly oversee Program Strategy and technical support, program effectiveness, advocacy and influencing, knowledge management & learning and program delivery in the country (PAs and outside PAs through grants).
You will become a member of the Country Management Team (CMT) and provides high-level, strategic leadership to the office as a whole, working collaboratively with other CMT members to meet the country objectives.
Do you have what it takes?
In order to succeed in this challenging and varied role you will require demonstrable knowledge of managing multiple, multi-sectoral development programs including disaster response and large and complex budgets.
Demonstrable knowledge of the donor/grant management requirements and key issues in development regarding Global Goals (SDGs),CEDAW and UNCRC particularly around child rights with a focus on girls.
Excellent knowledge of strategic planning process.
Knowledge of effective participatory MER systems and processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking.

Location: Based in Lilongwe, Malawi, with 50% travel to the field
Type of Role: 5 year Fixed term Contract
Reports to: Country Director
Salary: circa $60,000 USD per annum plus benefits
