Assistant Registrar (Communications and Marketing)


Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitoring issues requiring public attention and disseminating information on these matters;
  • Liaising with College Registrars when preparing press releases on topical issues affecting the University of Malawi whenever the need arises;
  • Coordinating the preparation of University of Malawi publications like the University of Malawi calendar, annual report and university magazine.
  • Identifying, analysing, publicising and keeping a record of major accomplishments and newsworthy events in the University;
  • Providing leadership to the team entrusted with the management of the University of Malawi website;
  • Assisting the University Registrar in the organisation of public events affecting the University of Malawi;
  • Coordinating alumni activities; Servicing assigned committees as Secretary.

Assistant Finance Officer (2 Posts)


Job Purpose
Reporting directly to the Senior Assistant Finance Officer, the Assistant Finance Officer will lead in the planning, executing and reporting on operational accounting transactions to ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and that funds are spent according to budget.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparing draft management accounts and financial statements
  • Consolidating departmental budgets
  • Maintaining accounting information system
  • Approving journal vouchers
  • Authorizing payment claims and vouchers
  • Recommending disposal of obsolete fixed assets
  • Reviewing reconciliations
  • Payroll management
  • Supervising and appraising staff

  • Strong business skills at an operational level.
Qualification & Experience:
  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Accountancy or relevant Accounting Degree plus professional Accounting qualifications: ACCA, CIMA
  • and also be proficient in the use of accounting packages particularly ACCPACC
  • and relevant work experience of not less than 5 years.
