Livestock Officer – Blantyre Synod Health and development Commission
Reports to Zomba Programmes Coordinator, Location: Naming’azi Farm Training Centre (NFTC)
look after livestock at the farm and ensure they reproduce efficiently, Organised seasonal breeding systems for livestock so as to have a manageable herd of goats, pigs and cattle, Ensure that the farm keeps a well-mannered breed of livestock, Organise an effective vaccination systems at the farm and in project villages to minimise animal and poultry diseases, Organise trainings and field days on animal husbandry to promote farmer knowledge and skills, Ensure that the farm grows enough pasture for use when needed by animals Develop annual budgets and work plans for livestock development, Continuously liaise with Project staff to plan for livestock husbandry needs, Write usable monthly reports to update on progress
Minimum of a Diploma in Livestock Management from a recognised college, Previous similar work experience of 3 yrs, experience in community extension work – an added advantage, Be able to ride a bicycle
Self starter, Team player, Committed Christian
