Program Coordinator Sudan
The Program Coordinator (South Darfur) (PCSD) manages a team of professional staff and coordinates the development of strategies for the program(s) in the specific region and leads the management and implementation of these program(s).
In S Darfur programming is emergency and recovery oriented (South Darfur Emergency and Recovery Program.
The coordination tasks include design, fund raising, monitoring and evaluation of interventions that should aim at effectively addressing the underlying causes of poverty in line with CARE’s programming principles, vision and mission.
The PC is required to develop strong functional relationships with the Head of Office, Finance Manager and Safety and Security and wellness coordinator.
The PC reports to the HOO with technical support from ACD-PQ.
Responsibility:
Staff management
Identify necessary staff development, career development and succession planning strategies for direct reports.
Ensure that space and incentives are available to allow staff to develop and be innovative.
Ensure that the CO program remains dynamic, with opportunities for innovation and personal growth by promoting a culture of, and mechanisms for, reflective practice and learning at all levels.
Ensure that the staff structure meets program requirements.
Program quality
At the field level, closely support the CO’s efforts to ensure proper monitoring and evaluation systems are in place to demonstrate impact and that program lessons are being used to promote improved programming and learning.
Likewise, support efforts to ensure that monitoring and evaluation systems enhance accountability of CO toward the communities with whom we work as well as other stakeholders (civil society, donors and government counterparts).
Ensure that standardized monitoring systems, as developed by the M&E coordinator, are followed and that analysis of the data is disseminated upwards.
Program management
Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of country office programs and projects and ensure that they are in line with CO strategic plan and program strategy and with the CI Programming Principles.
Internal and external relations
Work closely with units in Program Support (finance, procurement, HR, transport, etc.) to ensure proper coordination exists for efficient program implementation.
Liaise on a daily basis with the Safety and Security Advisor, ensuring that project and program areas are safe for staff.
Develop strong functional relationships. Maintain strong and productive relationships with the ACD and CD.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Water or Civil Engineering, Public Health, Social Science) preferably strong in management.
Proven evidence of program management experience with INGOs
5 years of proven experience in humanitarian work either in WASH/Economic Empowerment and / or Public Health
Experience with humanitarian work in a stressful environment- complex emergency
Technical competence in one of three sectors: Health, WASH, Economic Development
Excellent people management skills
Excellent Oral and Written English skills
