Chemonics seeks a finance and operations director for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded Feed the Future agriculture project in Mozambique. The five-year project aims to promote market-oriented, competitive businesses in priority food and cash crop sectors, strengthen the policy environment for private sector development and trade, and improve nutrition and sanitation behaviors. Project activities will support farmer organizations in the Zambezia, Nampula, Tete, and Manica provinces. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing operations support, including logistical, financial, and administrative systems creation and support
- Overseeing operations, finance, grants, and procurement managers to ensure that consistent policies and procedures are understood by all team members and are implemented in an integrated fashion across all areas of operations and management
- Working with local partnering organizations to build institutional capacity in a variety of areas, such as finance and management
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with an additional 15 years of work experience (relevant fields include accounting, finance, or business administration, with applied skills in developing and managing large budgets)
- Minimum five years of relevant work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar development context required
- Minimum 10 years of administration and financial management experience for an international development project preferred
- Previous experience in financial management on Feed the Future or other agriculture projects preferred
- Experience in professional accounting, auditing, or reporting
- Minimum three years of experience managing sub-contracts (or other sub-awards) and demonstrated knowledge of applicable regulations related to the oversight of such instruments
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
- Fluency in English, knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish required
