Nutrition Specialist

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Nutrition Specialist for the upcoming****S****trengthening Agribusiness and Fostering Rural Alimentation (SAFRA) Project****that aims to promote agriculture value chains and food security development, improve nutrition and health status and poverty reduction.
Project Description:
The Nutrition Specialist works closely with the Technical Director for Nutrition in leading the nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive activities for the project in accordance with global best practice, donor and FHI 360 requirements. The Nutrition Specialist participates in strategy, program implementation, program monitoring, evaluation in relation to integrated nutrition and agriculture interventions at the community and household level. This include capacity building and technical assistance to government, civil society and community stakeholders.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical thought leadership to ensure implementation of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive strategies and activities.
  • Implement and plan strategies that ensure integration in program interventions focused on nutrition, agriculture and livelihoods.
  • Design and deliver realistic and pragmatic nutrition strategies and programming interventions that will lead to positive nutritional and health outcomes, with a specific focus on pregnant and lactating women and children under five years of age.
  • Track and report against Feed the Future and other nutrition indicators and disaggregate data to analyze results within each domain.
  • Conduct assessments, reviews and audits to assess ways to continually strengthen the focus, quality and type of interventions.
  • Work closely with provincial teams and other technical counterparts to ensure synergistic and comprehensive programming.
  • Develop tools, frameworks and resources as needed for the Project.
  • Identify successful practices in the project that can be showcased in publications, communication materials and conferences.
  • Prepare communications materials that highlight the Project’s nutrition to agriculture programming, successes and lessons learnt.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and experience with the design, management and implementation of nutrition and food security projects in developing countries.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the socio-economic and political situation in Mozambique.
  • Ability to organize systems to monitor project results.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline
  • 8-11 Years of experience in education, health, behavioral, or social sciences or related field.
  • Applied skills in designing and implementing programs with a strong focus on nutrition.
  • Demonstrated capacity to liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders in other
  • organizations,
  • Demonstrated capacity to support and supervise staff
  • S/he must have strong writing and organizational skills for reporting on program and study results.
  • Strong English and Portuguese skills required.
