Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded Feed the Future agriculture project in Mozambique. The five-year project aims to promote market-oriented, competitive businesses in priority food and cash crop sectors, strengthen the policy environment for private sector development and trade, and improve nutrition and sanitation behaviors. Project activities will support farmer organizations in the Zambezia, Nampula, Tete, and Manica provinces. The deputy chief of party will provide managerial and technical support to all project activities and will serve as technical lead for one or more project components. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing overall project managerial and technical support to the chief of party
- Serving as key liaison with USAID, the government of Mozambique, stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
- Managing and supervising the work of project personnel and subcontractors
- Creating and implementing a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
- Overseeing project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with more than 15 years of relevant experience in integrated agriculture programs
- Advanced degree in public health, sanitation, nutrition, rural development, agricultural economics, management, or related area preferred
- Experience integrating gender and youth into complex programming
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English required; Portuguese or Spanish proficiency strongly preferred
