Project Description:
The M&E Specialist will responsible for managing the monitoring and evaluation system for the nutrition component of the project and advising project partners on M&E issues in the nutrition domain. The main responsibility of the M&E Specialist will be to align with the overall Project M&E framework and ensure that reporting requirements and accurate, meaningful and timely data for use in project management is collated, analyzed and used.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
- Work closely under the oversight of the M&E Project team to ensure a robust M&E system is functional.
- Work closely with the team and provide capacity strengthening to ensure collection, analysis and reporting, against donor and project required indicators.
- Develop and directly contribute to the development and implementation of M&E tools and systems to improve ability to collect, interpret and aggregate data that demonstrate impact and program accountability and progress.
- Develop and support the design and implementation of baseline, mid-term and end of project evaluations, surveys and other components of the programs M&E system as needed.
- Provide M&E technical advice partners, including staffing and resource allocation to M&E in the area of nutrition specific and sensitive programming.
- Develop high quality quantitative and qualitative methods and participatory methodologies to monitor program quality for performance and results.
- Build upon industry and experiences to improve consistency, quality and practicality of M&E strategies; promote dissemination and use.
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree (Master’s Degree or higher) in social science, development, statistics or related field is required.
- Familiarity with Feed the Future programming preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years in M&E of international, multilateral, and/or USG-funded programs is preferred.
- Experience supporting education and health activities is preferred.
- Prior management and supervision experience are preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity in performance management and strategic design at the project level are preferred.
- Experience in the design, conduct and analysis of research studies (quantitative and qualitative) is preferred.
- Ability to work with colleagues in diverse cultures is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously as part of a team with other staff is required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills for building and maintaining good relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders is preferred.
- Computer literacy with demonstrated use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point) is required.
- Experience with database development and management in Access (or something similar) is preferred.
- Experience using mapping (e.g., Arc-GIS etc.), and statistical analysis software
- (SPSS®, Epi STATA®, SAS®, or similar) preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required.
