Accountant – NAO Support Unit 

Maintaining the accounting system that will meet the needs of the Green Belt Initiative project for both internal and external users, Ensuring that payments and accounting records are prepared according to EDF procedures and general accounting standards, Verifying the existence of adequate and reliable supporting documents for commitments, payments and recoveries or refunds, Verifying the contractual and financial details of each invoice, payment requests and interim or final itemized statement of account, Reviewing the accounting transactions to ensure compatibility with the EDF Guidelines and GAAP, Preparing project accounts that are accurate, reliable and verifiable from source documents to final reports, for audits, management and other users, Ensuring that programme goods and services are procured according to the 10th EDF rules and procedures and ensuring that a strong internal control system is in place for accountability, Preparing monthly bank
reconciliations and all other financial reports to ensure that management is correctly and regularly informed of the financial situation of the programme, Ensure timely processing of PAYE , Withholding Tax, VAT and other taxes for submission to MRA. Ensure details on the Payment Vouchers agree with details on the supporting documents and also postings in the cashbooks and other accounts ledgers, Amounts on Payment Vouchers are properly reconciled with supporting documents, Assisting in the mamagemnt of EDF Imprest accounts, preparing Programme Estimates, addenda and budget reallocations to the endorsed Programme Estimates and preparing the Programme Estimate 1 closure  request, Be responsible for the management of the entire programme Fixed Asset Register, Close out the accounts upon expiry of the Programme Estimate 1 and timely preparation and submission of Programme Estimates closure request to the NAO Support Unit, Carrying out any additional duties
or responsibilities as may be requested by management 

Minimum qualification of 1st University Degree with at least 3 yrs relevant post qualification experience, If no 1st Degree, then a a relevant diploma and a minimum of 10 yrs relevant experience Strong analytical and accounting skills with good skills in and understanding of management and financial accounts, Ability to work well with others under strict deadline situations and respond to changes and priorities, Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see transactions from source through to completion, Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, Experience in auditing and familiarity with EDF procedures would be an asset, Highly competent and self motivated individual
