Background
The mission of the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) is to advance human development. The goal is to contribute towards the expansion of opportunities, choice and freedom. HDRO works towards this goal by promoting innovative new ideas, advocating practical policy changes, and constructively challenging policies and approaches that constrain human development. HDRO works with others to achieve change through writing and research, data analysis and presentation, support to national and regional analysis and outreach and advocacy work.
The objective of this internship is to provide participants with the opportunity to learn about Human Development Reports – global, regional, national, sub-national - their various themes and development issues and how to raise the quality of these reports; to be knowledgeable about current international development issues; to master skills in basic analysis and research work; to be exposed to a large database of reports and related information.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intern would work closely with the research team as research assistant for the Human Development Report. In particular, it is expected to deliver the following tasks:
- Review literature and prepare summaries with main findings in human development topics, as requested;
- Provide assistance for quantitative and qualitative background research done within research team for the Human Development Report 2014;
- Support communication and administrative tasks of the research team;
- Prepare talking points and PowerPoint presentations for meetings with external collaborators of the Report, as well as brainstorm meetings and;
- Support other activities as requested.

Required Skills and Experience
Required Skills and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. Program in economics, social sciences, or statistics;
- Familiar with the Human Development Reports and measures;
- Excellent knowledge of and experience with Stata and Excel.
Language:
- Fluent in English.
