Chemonics seeks experts for an anticipated agriculture project with USAID in Malawi. The project will seek to improve private sector competitiveness, reduce poverty, and increase food security and nutrition by developing competitive agricultural value chains that engage smallholder farmers in Feed the Future districts in southern and central Malawi. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
We are seeking technical specialists in the following areas:
  • Production, processing, and marketing of groundnut, soybean, and horticultural value chains
  • Storage and post-harvest handling
  • Business service provider provision and enterprise development
  • Farmer association development
  • Market linkages
  • Market information systems
  • Policy development
  • Cross-border trade
  • Agricultural/rural finance
  • Gender
  • Nutrition
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree preferred in agriculture, economics, or a related area
  • Proven record in successfully delivering technical assistance
  • Proven managerial/supervisory experience as well as strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with USAID highly preferred
  • Experience working collaboratively with the government of Malawi, international donors, and local organizations
  • At least 10 years of experience promoting agricultural production and marketing and policy reform
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in Chichewa a plus
