Purpose of the Position
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Communication and the general guidance of the Representative, the Partnerships Specialist will be assisting in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy, partnership and communication strategy to get children`s and women`s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF`s mission and objectives in the country, and enhance the organization`s credibility and brand.
Key Expected Results
  1. Partnership Strategy for the Malawi County Office, covering private and public sectors, with clear Monitoring and Evaluation framework. Strategy is developed in inclusive manner, and regularly monitored and reviewed every 2 years.
  2. Private Sector engagement plan, with priority partners and sectors, and regular assessment of value- added. Programme staff engaged with private sector partners to deliver their goals.
  3. Civil Society engagement across the Malawi country programme, is in line with partnership strategy and global guidance on civil society partnerships. Partnerships are monitored and evaluated regularly and results presented to the Programme Management Team.
  4. Donor recognition plans are developed with key development partners, and monitored regularly.
  5. Freelance writers and consultants are briefed on delivery of plans.
  6. Contributes to the visibility of Child Rights issues in Malawi, through effective public advocacy with key partners.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
  • Advanced University degree in the social sciences, if in communication or journalism an asset.
  • Five years progressively responsible work experience in the planning and management partnerships, strategic communication, fundraising activities, or civil society engagement.
  • Experience in private sector, or private sector fundraising and partner management.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in a second UN language would be an asset.
  • *A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and 7 years of relevant work experience (private sector, fundraising, relationship/partnership management) may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
